Epoca vichinga Bronzo Cross pendant - 39 mm (Senza prezzo di riserva)
A wearable and well-modelled Viking Age cross that neatly captures the meeting of Norse craft and new Christian belief.
c. 950–1100 AD
Material: Cast bronze (copper alloy)
Origin: Scandinavia or Norse-influenced Baltic/Rus’ regions
Dimensions: Height 39 mm (incl. loop), Width 30 mm
A compact Viking Age Christian pendant cast in bronze as an equal-armed cross with flared, leaf-like terminals. A moulded step/arc runs around the arms, giving the piece depth and a pleasing play of light. The suspension loop is integral and sound.
Context
Cross pendants of this type spread widely during the Christianisation of Scandinavia and the Baltic in the late 10th–11th centuries. They were worn as personal amulets—often alongside beads—and appear in graves and hoards across the Norse world.
Condition
Good, complete with stable green patina; minor edge wear and small casting imperfections from antiquity. No active corrosion. Please see photos for a full impression.
