Oil on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame.

The composition depicts a still life with white and dark grapes, peaches, plums, figs, and a pumpkin, arranged on a ledge with a basket at the centre against a dark background. The luministic rendering of the fruit, achieved through soft highlights over dark grounds, recalls the tradition of Italian still-life painting of the Lombard or Venetian school in the 19th century, drawing on 17th-century models of Caravaggesque descent.

Condition report: Original canvas. Good state of conservation of the pictorial surface, with traces of wear and surface marks.
