Medieval Viking Age, bronze openwork pendant of rounded, multi-lobed form with an integral suspension loop on top and small projecting terminal below. The central design shows stylized facing Fafnir dragons.
The pendant will be delivered on a modern leather jewellery cord, ready for modern wear or to put on display.
-> In Norse mythology Fafnir was the son of the dwarf king Hreidmar and was slain by Sigurd. In Norse culture Fafnir was a symbol of strength and greed. The fateful story of Fafnir was a warning against the chaotic and destructive powers of greed.

Width: ± 26,4 mm
Condition: good solid condition. The surface displays a dark green-brown patina with areas of encrustation. Minor surface irregularities and signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Certificate of Authenticity (PDF) is available upon request for all lots with a hammer price of €100 or higher.
