Antico talisman Turkmeno Tumar Bozbend in argento – 84% argento e corniola - Amuleto
Late 19th - early 20th century Turkmen amulet (Tumar) crafted in 84% silver with 12 carnelian eye-shaped beads.
A magnificent and heavy example of a traditional Turkmen Tumar Bozbend (amulet pendant/armlet). This piece is crafted from high-grade silver, professionally XRF-tested at 84% purity (consistent with the historic 84 zolotnik standard).
The item shows a golden-yellow hue, which is a natural patina characteristic of this specific silver alloy.
It is set with 12 genuine, hand-cut carnelian stones with natural inclusions, symbolizing protection and good fortune.
The craftsmanship shows traditional pattern characteristic of Central Asian nomadic tribes.
Worn on the chest, the cylindrical tube (Bozbend) once held a muslim prayer scroll, enhancing it's protective, talismanic function. Turkmen jewellery combined Islamic and pre-Islamic beliefs, symbolising protection, fertility and life stages and was both spiritually meaningful and materially valuable.
Measures 12,8 x 2,60 cm ,
weight: 80 gr. with a warm authentic patina.
This piece will be carefully packed and shipped.
