This work depicts a teahouse at dusk during the season of fresh verdure. It features a composition viewed from a high vantage point looking down.
Artist Profile:
1945: Born in Manchuria.
1960: Moved to Kyoto.
1972: Started creating woodblock prints.
1973: Selected for the Japan Print Association Exhibition. Selected for the Nichido Print Grand Prix. Received the Sanki-kai Newcomer Award and recommended as a member.
1983: "Kyoto Hyakkei Woodblock Print Exhibition by Three Artists" with Tokuriki Tomikichiro and Clifton Karhu (Kyoto). "Masao Ido Dyeing and Woodblock Print Exhibition" (Morioka).
1990: Masao Ido Exhibition (Chicago). Special invited artist at the Graz Art Association Exhibition (Austria).
1993: Masao Ido Woodblock Print Exhibition commemorating the NHK Taiga Drama "Ryukyu no Kaze" (Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, Okinawa Mitsukoshi).
1999: Established the NPO Hanamaki Bunka Mura. Appointed Chairperson of the NPO Hanamaki Bunka Mura Council.
2003: Created original designs for four types of Kinki regional stamps "Kyoto Events". "Viewing Kyoto" Masao Ido Woodblock Print Exhibition (Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kyoto).
2004: Acquired by Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
2006: Acquired by the Library of Congress, USA.
2007: Appeared on NHK World TV "Begin Japanology".
2016: Passed away.
