Ghurra in legno nepalese di fine ventesima secolo, alta 21 cm, larga 5 cm, profonda 5 cm, peso 1,16 kg, autentica/originaria, provenienza Privécollectie (ex collezione privata tedesca), in buone condizioni con tracce di uso tribale e senza supporto incluso.

A ‘ghurra’ keeps the churning-rod on its place during the churning of the milk. The Hindu and Buddhist Nepali beliefs in the myth that ‘man & woman’ were created after the Gods churned the primal ocean. The ghurra depicts often scenes from daily life or can have beautiful abstract messages. Sometimes they are anthropomorphic, or phallic. Very often they obtain beautiful wear and patina, because of their intensive use. The huge variety and affordability of these objects, makes them an interesting collecting subject.
Good condition with traces of tribal use.
