Maurizio Valch (1972) - XXL - Territorial Passage — Horizon Structure

The piece is in excellent condition, with no damage or restorations. Dimensions: 80 × 120 cm (full image). The artwork is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. A contemporary abstract acrylic painting where a structured territory unfolds through layered planes and directional transitions. The composition is defined by a dominant blue field intersected by earthy tones, establishing a clear spatial hierarchy. Fine incised lines traverse the surface, organizing the composition and guiding movement across the painting. These lines function as structural divisions, connecting different zones and creating a sense of continuity within the territory. Geometric elements appear throughout the space as points of presence. Their placement introduces rhythm and scale, reinforcing the architectural nature of the composition and marking moments of emergence within the landscape. A defined horizon line stabilizes the upper field, while diagonal transitions generate directional tension across the composition. In the lower area, a group of small forms suggests a subtle human trace within the territory, introducing a quiet narrative element without breaking the overall structural clarity. This contemporary abstract painting emphasizes balance, direction and spatial construction. The work operates as a constructed field where movement, proportion and silence define the experience of the image. Keywords: contemporary abstract painting, geometric abstraction, architectural painting, horizon composition, minimalist abstract art, structural abstraction, modern abstract artwork, spatial composition, symbolic abstract art. About the artist Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami (USA) until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona (Spain), where he participated in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017 he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has also collaborated with MACBA. His work explores the genesis of metaphysical territories — pictorial spaces where geological landscape and human consciousness begin to intersect. Using a visual language inspired by geology, horizon lines and tectonic formations, Valch constructs territories where the emergence of individual awareness appears to arise from the earth itself. Within these landscapes, symbolic elements such as stairways, monolithic forms and architectural traces act as markers of perception, transition and genesis. Rather than depicting historical narratives or social structures, his paintings focus on a primordial moment: the appearance of individual consciousness within the territory. Many of his works are accompanied by original poetic texts written by the artist. TikTok: @maurizio_valch Facebook: MaurizioValch X (Twitter): @MauriValch Instagram: @mauriziovalch mauriziovalch.com
