Black Stile N66

A horizon that dissolves rather than divides. In Black Stile N66, the boundary between planes becomes more ambiguous, almost evaporating into a continuous field of restrained energy. The lower band, dense and textured, no longer acts as a limit but as a slow, grounding presence from which the rest of the composition seems to expand.

The upper space is quieter, yet more complex. Subtle tonal shifts and soft residual marks suggest movement without direction—like echoes trapped in suspension. Circular traces appear and fade, never fully defined, reinforcing a sense of depth that cannot be measured but only intuited.

Light here is elusive and essential. It glides across the surface rather than striking it, activating hidden tonal variations. Under certain lighting, the work leans into a deep, almost absolute black; under others, it opens into a spectrum of greys and softened reflections that gently reveal the underlying structure. This constant transformation gives the piece a living, breathing quality.

There is a sense of containment, but also of expansion held in pause—an energy that could unfold, yet chooses to remain still.
