Ján Halaša (* October 9, 1893, Martin – † October 12, 1981, Trenčín) was a Slovak photographer, tourism organizer and pharmacist. Photographer of the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín. In the first period (until 1934), the core of his work was the landscape, and from 1934 also people. Thus he created documents from the life of the people, especially in the surroundings of Trenčín, in Turec, in Orava, in Liptov. In his landscape work he moved towards a unique synthesis of monumentality, emotional charge of motif and expression and national content. A pioneer of Slovak tourism and alpine sports. He combined tourism with photography, gradually compiling a pictorial geography of the mountainous regions of Liptov, Orava and Turec. Author and co-author of tourist and ethnographic publications, pictorial and ethnographic publications, pictorial and textual contributions in the magazine Krásy Slovenska. His photographs are in the collections of the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava, the regional M. A. Bazovský Gallery in Trenčín, and the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
