Fine Antique Hanging Oil Lamp, Wrought Iron, Opaline Glass & Polychrome Ceramic, Fully Functional, Late 19th Century
A highly decorative and fully functional antique hanging oil lamp, dating to the late 19th – early 20th century, distinguished by its exceptional craftsmanship and refined aesthetic.
The piece is suspended by an elaborate wrought iron framework, richly adorned with flowing scrollwork and geometric motifs, showcasing fine artisanal metalwork. Above, a beautifully shaped opaline glass shade diffuses the light with a soft, warm glow, complemented by a clear glass chimney and an original brass burner assembly.
The focal point of the lamp is its striking ceramic reservoir, finely modeled and decorated in deep red, cream, and green glazes, enriched with raised floral and classical patterns. The surface presents a charming patina, enhancing its authenticity and period character.
This lamp is in working condition, combining historical charm with practical use, making it both a functional lighting piece and an outstanding decorative object.
A rare and elegant example of period lighting, ideal for collectors or as a statement piece in refined interiors.
Condition: Good overall condition with wear consistent with age; fully functional.
Period: Late 19th – early 20th century
Materials: Ceramic, glass, brass, wrought iron
Due to the fragile nature of the item, it will be shipped in two separate packages: one containing the glass components and the other containing the ceramic lamp body, in order to ensure maximum protection during transit. The lamp will be shipped without a light bulb.
