JH Engström - Sketch of Paris (MINT CONDITION) - 2013

PLEASE ENJOY the ONE-SELLER-AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne, Germany) - with INTERNATIONAL PHOTOBOOKS from my PRIVATE COLLECTION and from RECENT ACQUISITATIONS. SCARCE OPPORTUNITY to purchase this fantastic photobook by JH Engström ("Trying to dance", Martin Parr, The Photobook) - in BRANDNEW EDITION. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION - published in the same year (2013), in the same layout, size and content like the first Swedish edition by Bokförlaget Max Ström, Stockholm. New, mint, unread - COLLECTOR'S COPY. "For over twenty years, Swedish photographer JH Engström has lived and worked in Paris, a city that, like New York, has a long photographic pedigree; countless photographers have been inspired by its iconic architecture and busy streets. Sketch of Paris, however, is hardly a catalog of classic Parisian scenes, offering instead a raw yet lyrical portrayal of the artist’s misadventures, loves, and random encounters in its streets, bars, and artist lofts—an entirely personal Paris. Engström brings us on a gritty, no-holds-barred guided tour of life in his adopted city. The photographs provide a type of homage to Paris, a city that has greatly influenced and inspired Engström—as a photographer and as a person. Beautifully produced in a slipcased volume, the book brings together 250 color and black-and-white photographs all made between 1991 and 2012, tracing a critical time during the development of the artist’s own voice and vision." (from the publisher) This is a lot by 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne, Germany). 5Uhr30.com guarantees detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% protection, 100% insurance and combined shipping worldwide. He moved to Paris with his parents at the age of 10 and back to Sweden when he was 13, but spent a lot of his adolescence in Paris. In 1991 he moved back to Paris and worked as assistant to fashion photographer Mario Testino. In 1993 he went back to Stockholm to start working as assistant to documentary photographer Anders Petersen. In 1997 he graduated from the photography and film department at Gothenburg University. The same year he published his first book, Shelter. In 1998 he moved to Brooklyn, New York and started work on Trying to Dance. In 2000 he travelled throughout Europe and then moved to his native Värmland where he continues working on the Trying to Dance project. He has received numerous grants and awards since 1994.
