About the item itself: This remarkable artifact represents a significant part of Celtic heritage, reflecting both ancient trading practices and spiritual beliefs. It was used as a form of proto-currency and was also worn by the Druids due to its simple, "eternal" round shape—a shape deeply rooted in the most important Celtic symbols. It has a regular shape with a beautiful patina on the surface, almost unblemished by time.
Who were the Druids? Druids were priests and religious leaders among the ancient Celtic peoples, also serving as judges, physicians, astronomers, and keepers of knowledge. They were educated people who passed on knowledge orally, practiced herbal medicine, divination, and preserved oral traditions and mythological poems.
This round bronze amulet symbolizes the eternal movement of life, unity, and immortality. Such amulets are used as talismans to protect the wearer from negative energy and the evil eye.
Before the advent of coins, gold, silver, and bronze ring money was used in the Celtic lands of the Danube, France, England, and Ireland. Sometimes the simple ring shape evolved into complex forms, reminiscent of wheels (Gaul), gears, star-shaped rings, and interlocking rings.
