Apollo's Chariot, XVII secolo, pittura a olio su tela, Italia, venduto con cornice.
Descrizione del venditore
Venetian school (XVII) - Apollo's Chariot.
64 x 126 cm (unframed) - 92 x 153 cm (framed).
Oil on canvas, in a lacquered and gilded wooden frame.
The painting depicts Apollo's solar chariot in a dynamic composition dominated by moving figures against a luminous sky. The elongated horizontal format of the scene unfolds around the figures of the god and his horses, rendered with loose brushstrokes and a handling of light that harks back to the great tradition of 17th-century Venetian painting. The warm color palette, based on ochre and gold tones enlivened by red and brown accents, and the sculptural rendering of the figures clearly trace the canvas back to 17th-century Venetian painting, a style close to large Baroque ceiling or wall decorations.
Condition report: Lined canvas. The painted surface is in good condition, with traces of old restorations and wear.
• This item is sold with a certificate of authenticity with legal validity.
• Further details on the condition report are available upon request.
