Predinastico dell'Antico Egitto Due lame di selce (Senza prezzo di riserva)
Two Ancient Egyptian Predynastic Flint Blades
Circa 4000–3000 B.C.
A pair of finely worked Predynastic Egyptian flint blades, skillfully knapped from high-quality honey and light brown flint.
The larger blade is elongated with a gently tapering form, displaying careful bifacial flaking and visible ripple marks from controlled percussion and pressure techniques. Its edges are irregularly serrated from retouch, suggesting use as a cutting implement.
The second blade is more rectilinear in form, featuring a distinctive straight profile with finely denticulated (serrated) edges along both sides. The surface retains a smooth, slightly glossy patina, with subtle color variation characteristic of aged desert flint.
Both pieces demonstrate the advanced lithic craftsmanship of Predynastic Egypt, when stone tools reached a high level of refinement prior to the widespread adoption of metal. Such blades were essential tools in daily life, used for cutting organic materials, food preparation, and craft activities.
Dimensions: 7.3 cm and 7.1 cm.
Provenance: found in Egypt in 1930s.
Ex Swedish Egyptologist collection, 1990s.
Later in European collections.
