In 1620–1621, Catholic Habsburg forces defeated the Protestant Bohemian revolt after the Battle of White Mountain near Prague. This victory greatly strengthened Habsburg power in Central Europe. Leopold V supported the Catholic side and later became ruler of Tyrol. Coins from 1621 often symbolized Habsburg authority, Catholic power, and dynastic legitimacy during this turbulent wartime period.
