After Louis Lefèvre (1876–1943) - Madonna and Child with Classical Columns

Louis Lefèvre (1876–1943) was an active French Academic painter in Paris. Born into an artistic family, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in his early years, deeply influenced by classical masters such as Raphael and Poussin. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to classical subjects, particularly the Madonna and Child and religious scenes. His works are distinguished by delicate, realistic brushwork, soft and elegant coloring, and a masterful use of classical composition and chiaroscuro to convey the solemnity and tenderness of religious themes, often employing dark backgrounds to accentuate the divine radiance of the figures. His paintings were regularly exhibited at the Paris Salon, earning him recognition within the niche classical art circles of his time. Most of his surviving works remain in private collections, with limited circulation on the antique market.
