Malgorzata Oleszkiewicz - Between Rooms, XL (2025)

Between Rooms, 75 × 110 cm Between Rooms is a poetic figurative painting built around silence, distance and an intimate sense of psychological space. Two solitary figures appear within a geometric interior divided by strong vertical lines and contrasting colour fields. The composition creates a quiet tension between presence and absence, closeness and separation. The painting combines soft, delicate figures with a bold architectural structure. Muted greys and pale blues are contrasted with deep red, pink and a vibrant orange area, giving the work both emotional depth and strong visual presence. The atmosphere is contemplative, slightly dreamlike and theatrical. The figures seem suspended in their own inner worlds, leaving the viewer space for personal interpretation. With its elegant vertical format and expressive colour palette, the work is well suited to contemporary interiors, especially living rooms, bedrooms, studios or collector spaces where it can become a distinctive focal point. It is a unique, original painting by the artist. The painting is varnished, which enhances the depth of colour and protects the surface. It is signed by the artist in the lower right corner. The painted edges of the canvas allow the work to be displayed without a frame. A certificate of authenticity signed by the artist is included. Acrylic and pencil on primed canvas stretched over a wooden frame (unframed). Shipped stretched on the stretcher bars, not rolled. Carefully protected and packed in a rigid cardboard box intended for the transport of artwork. About the Artist: Małgorzata Oleszkiewicz is a visual artist holding Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts and Design, working across painting, collage, photography, and spatial projects. Her practice explores the relationship between the human figure and architectural space, operating at the intersection of figuration and abstraction. Her works are characterised by restrained compositions, geometric structures, and subtle tensions between colour, space, and presence. Oleszkiewicz’s artistic research focuses on the figure as a carrier of psychological states within constructed or fragmented environments. Rather than narrative depiction, her paintings investigate perception, distance, and the quiet dynamics between bodies and space. Education Małgorzata Oleszkiewicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Interior Architecture and Scenography, additionally attending elective courses in Painting and Graphic Arts during her master’s studies. She also studied Interior Architecture and Exhibition Design at the Sopot Academy of Applied Sciences in Sopot. She further expanded her practice by participating in the Photography / Film Workshop “Power” at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School, University of Silesia in Katowice. She has also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Architecture of Cultural Spaces. Her work has been presented in numerous international exhibitions and curated artistic projects in both gallery and institutional contexts. These include presentations at the Centre for Contemporary Art and ZPAP in Toruń, the International Graphic Biennale in Skopje, and the Prague Quadrennial, as well as exhibitions in New York, Berlin, Rome, Venice and Padua. Oleszkiewicz’s paintings are held in private collections across Europe and Asia, including Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, China, Spain and Greece. She maintains an active international practice, with a strong presence on European art platforms, particularly within the Belgian and German markets.
