Yamahagi 山はぎ(やまはぎ)|Shimizu Atsushi 清水 敦(しみずあつし)
This print depicts Yamahagi (Japanese bush clover), one of the seven autumn herbs that grows wild in the mountains and fields of Japan. It is depicted as a still life. The small reddish-purple flowers and the rounded green leaves of Yamahagi are depicted with the bleeding characteristic of printmaking.
Artist Profile:
Born in Tokyo in 1937.
In 1976, he moved to Germany alone and studied printmaking techniques (burin) at the Print Room of the Kunsthalle Hamburg.
In 1990, he established "Mori no Ie," equipped with a printmaking studio and a multi-purpose workshop, in Abashiri City, where he continues his creative activities.
