Descrizione del venditore
Niko Kralj 4455 Chair — Model 1601
Early production example by Stol Kamnik, Slovenia, circa 1955–1956
Original early-production "4455 chair", also documented as "Office Chair Model 1601 [4455]", designed by the renowned Slovenian architect and industrial designer Niko Kralj.
The chair was produced by Stol Kamnik in Slovenia, at the time part of Yugoslavia. The design dates from the mid-1950s and is associated with the first production period of the model. It is one of Kralj’s most recognizable early industrial designs.
The construction combines a lightweight tubular aluminium frame with wooden elements. The shaped plywood seat has a gently curved surface, while the distinctive continuous wooden backrest extends into the armrests on both sides. The open space between the seat and the backrest gives the chair its characteristic light and elegant appearance.
This example has been preserved in its authentic, unrestored original condition. All components are original, including the aluminium frame, plywood seat, curved wooden backrest with integrated armrests, rivets, screws and feet.
The chair is structurally sound, stable and fully usable. The wooden surfaces show natural signs of age, including wear, fading, small scratches and a distinctive vintage patina. The aluminium frame also shows age-related traces of use and surface patina. These details are visible in the photographs and form part of the chair’s authentic character.
A rare and collectible example of Slovenian and Yugoslav mid-century modern design.
Condition
Good original vintage condition. Unrestored and fully functional. All components are original. Visible age-related wear and patina are consistent with the age of the chair. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
