Stefan Bügler

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch #11 is an intense, cask-strength single malt from Campbeltown, characterized by a powerful yet masterfully balanced interplay of dry campfire smoke, zesty citrus notes, and creamy sweetness.

The cask maturation: It was aged 90% in ex-Bourbon and 10% in ex-Sherry casks. The high proportion of Bourbon contributes the bright fruitiness and vanilla sweetness, while the Sherry component lends the distillate a subtle depth. The smoke: Despite the designation “Heavily Peated,” The smoke does not have a medicinal quality, but rather resembles dry wood smoke, soot, and charcoal. The texture: Despite its youth, the whiskey has a very oily, viscous mouthfeel that integrates the alcohol well.
