Dell’antica Roma, Impero Bronzo Statuetta - 7.5 cm
Roman Bronze Statuette of Venus, Roman Empire, 1st–3rd Century AD
A finely cast Roman bronze statuette depicting Venus, goddess of beauty, love, fertility, and feminine virtue, dating to the 1st–3rd century AD. The figure is represented standing nude in a graceful pose, with one hand raised toward her hair in a gesture characteristic of the Venus Pudica tradition, a sculptural type widely reproduced throughout the Roman world. Such small bronze figures were commonly displayed in domestic shrines (lararia), villas, and private spaces where they served both decorative and devotional purposes, invoking protection, prosperity, beauty, and marital harmony. The sculpture displays elegant proportions, carefully modelled feminine forms, and an attractive ancient green-brown patina developed over centuries, preserving the charm and aesthetic refinement of Roman bronze craftsmanship.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 7.5 cm height
Provenance: Acquired in the Netherlands. Formerly in a German private collection assembled during the 2000s.
