A finely cast bronze figure of an immortal, measuring circa 18,5cm in height and weighing 545g, dressed in a scholar's cap with trailing ribbons, wearing layered garments and a sash suspending a scholar´s scroll as he stands on a pedestal of waves. Notes: The immortal depicted here may be Lu Dongbin, the patron of scholars, as suggested by his scholar's cap and attire. The waves he stands on may refer to his journey, as one of the immortals, to Penglai Island, the abode of the immortals. Condition: Very good, no significant damages or repairs. Minor wear commensurate with age. Patine and wear to the underside suggest age of early 19th century, the screws are probably a later addition to stablize the figure.
