Detailed Description
Movement
As visible .the heart of this timepiece is a beautifully preserved, fire-gilded English verge movement. It features a stunningly pierced and hand-engraved balance cock adorned with an elegant floral/coquille motif. The plate proudly bears the classic script signature "Jas. Pinfold London No. 7260", alongside a silver regulation disc (Slow/Fast indicator) with a polished steel regulator hand. Blued steel screws provide a beautiful contrast to the rich gilding.
Dial & Hands
the watch presents a clean white enamel dial with bold Roman numeral hour markers and an outer minute track. The dial features a single winding aperture located near the 3 o’clock position, correct for this movement architecture. It retains its ornate, historical brass/gold-toned beetle and poker hands, which add immense period character. Note a faint hairline crack/imperfection near the edge of the dial around the 4 to 5 o'clock position.
Case & Hallmarks
The heavy silver case features a distinct milled/coined decorative border along the bezel, providing a strong tactile feel and premium look .The interior of the case back. bears the case maker's mark "FAFR", a unique serial reference 6217, and historical watchmaker service scratch-marks testifying to its long life and maintenance history.
Condition Report
Dial: Overall very good condition for its age; subtle hairline/age wear near the bottom right edge, but completely stable and original.
Movement: Visually excellent with crisp engraving and clean gilding. It appears intact with its chain present, though like all antique timepieces, a professional service is recommended for daily timekeeping accuracy.
Case: Honest, unpolished condition with minor surface scratches and a beautiful natural patina matching its age. The hinges are intact, and the front bezel opens smoothly as shown
