Antique English Verge Fusee Pocket Watch – Jas. Pinfold, London (No. 7260) ​An exceptional and substantial example of late 18th to early 19th-century English horology. This impressive Verge Fusee pocket watch features a highly decorated movement signed by the maker, housed in a robust silver pair-case or heavy consular-style case. ​Key Specifications & Dimensions ​Maker: Jas. (James) Pinfold, London (Engraved on the movement plate). ​Movement Number: 7260. ​Movement Type: Mechanical key-wound Verge Escapement with Fusee and chain. ​Total Diameter (Size): 71 mm (including case). ​Total Weight: 137 grams. ​Accessories: Included with a vintage winding/setting key. ​Detailed Description ​Movement ​As visible .the heart of this timepiece is a beautifully preserved, fire-gilded English verge movement. It features a stunningly pierced and hand-engraved balance cock adorned with an elegant floral/coquille motif. The plate proudly bears the classic script signature "Jas. Pinfold London No. 7260", alongside a silver regulation disc (Slow/Fast indicator) with a polished steel regulator hand. Blued steel screws provide a beautiful contrast to the rich gilding. ​Dial & Hands ​ the watch presents a clean white enamel dial with bold Roman numeral hour markers and an outer minute track. The dial features a single winding aperture located near the 3 o’clock position, correct for this movement architecture. It retains its ornate, historical brass/gold-toned beetle and poker hands, which add immense period character. Note a faint hairline crack/imperfection near the edge of the dial around the 4 to 5 o'clock position. ​Case & Hallmarks ​The heavy silver case features a distinct milled/coined decorative border along the bezel, providing a strong tactile feel and premium look .The interior of the case back. bears the case maker's mark "FAFR", a unique serial reference 6217, and historical watchmaker service scratch-marks testifying to its long life and maintenance history. ​Condition Report ​Dial: Overall very good condition for its age; subtle hairline/age wear near the bottom right edge, but completely stable and original. ​Movement: Visually excellent with crisp engraving and clean gilding.
