The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 This antique yatate (portable writing set) dates to the 19th century and was used as a compact travelling writing tool in Japan. The dark copper body is decorated with finely executed silver inlay in a traditional thunder pattern running along the shaft. Elegant silver-inlaid motifs also appear on the lid and underside of the ink pot. The inside of the lid bears a seal mark reading "Ryū" (Dragon). Silver inlay is a traditional decorative technique in which silver is set into engraved grooves in the metal surface, creating refined contrasting designs. The original ink-soaked cotton remains inside the ink reservoir. Please note that the brush is not included. The thunder pattern symbolises continuity, strength, and protection, making it a popular motif in traditional Japanese decorative arts. There is age-related wear, surface scratches, patina, and minor areas of verdigris and oxidation consistent with age. Parts of the silver inlay have become worn and faded through long use. The original ink cotton remains inside the ink pot. Overall, the piece remains in good antique condition.
