Burmese Amber (Burmite) with Cockroach Inclusion (Order Blattodea) – Mid-Cretaceous (~99 Million Years Old)
An impressive specimen of natural Burmese amber (Burmite) containing a remarkably preserved cockroach (Order Blattodea). Originating from Myanmar and dating to the Mid-Cretaceous period, approximately 99 million years ago, this fossil captures one of the oldest and most successful insect lineages known on Earth.
The inclusion displays excellent morphological detail, including the characteristic flattened body, long filiform antennae, well-developed legs, and delicate wing venation. The specimen is clearly visible within the transparent amber, making it both scientifically interesting and aesthetically appealing.
