The work ranks among the most important primary sources for the history of North Friesland in the 17th century and is of outstanding value for regional and local history.
The engraved copper title by M. Petersen, with its embedded town plans, constitutes a cartographic gem of Frisian book history.
Provenance: Title page verso bears an old handwritten signature Müllenhoff – possibly from the collection of the eminent German philologist and folklorist Karl Müllenhoff (1818–1884), who devoted much of his scholarly life to the history and culture of North Friesland.
Condition:
19,5x15,5cm. Engraved copper title by M. Petersen with small town plans of Tondern, Husum, Tönning, Bredstedt and Garding. 16 leaves (of 20), 410 pages, 9 leaves.
