Author of the engravings: Francisco de Goya y Lucientes.
Francisco de Goya is widely considered the grandfather of modern art, having laid the emotional and thematic groundwork for generations of artists. His revolutionary approach to depicting the horrors of war in The Third of May 1808 directly inspired Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece Guernica, while his dark exploration of the subconscious in The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters anticipated Salvador Dalí’s Surrealism. Even today, Goya’s legacy lives on in the contemporary street art of Banksy, whose biting social satire and anti-establishment stencils echo the fierce social critique of Goya's famous artworks.
