This charming vintage 南部鉄器Nambu Tekki cast iron ashtray is inspired by the famous Japanese folk tale 分福茶釜Bunbuku Chagama, featuring a traditional tea kettle with a tanuki (raccoon dog) motif at its center.
The finely textured arare (hobnail) surface, rustic brown patina, and naturally aged iron beautifully express the Japanese aesthetic of 侘び寂びWabi-Sabi, celebrating the beauty of age and imperfection.
