A Rare Chinese Export Canton Famille Rose Teapot with Green Ground and Gilt Decoration, Qing Dynasty, Daoguang Period (c.1830–1850)
A rare and attractive Chinese Export Canton famille rose porcelain teapot from the Daoguang period, decorated with an unusual vivid green ground enriched with finely gilt scrolling foliage.
The body is painted with two shaped reserve panels. One side depicts an elegant interior court scene with finely dressed figures gathered around a table, while the reverse features a beautifully painted arrangement of flowering plants, fruit and scholar’s objects, symbolizing prosperity and refinement. The remaining surface is richly decorated with gilt scrollwork and white blossoms against the vibrant green enamel ground, creating a striking contrast typical of high-quality Canton enamel decoration.
The original domed cover is present, finished with a gilt knop, and the overall decoration retains its bright enamels and well-preserved gilding, making this an attractive example of 19th-century Chinese Export porcelain.
Size: 13 cm long (spout to handle), 7.5 cm high.
Condition: Very good antique condition. A small area of glaze loss to the rim of the teapot opening and a tiny chip to the rim of the cover. The gilding is exceptionally well preserved with only minor age-related wear. No cracks or restoration.
