With Travel – The Last Dawn, Sonny Insinna continues his Travel series, a body of work in which animals become silent refugees, forced to abandon their natural world to escape the destruction and cruelty inflicted by humankind.
In this composition, a majestic Bengal tiger advances with determination while a rooster stands firmly on its back. Both raise their heads toward the sky, their voices merging into a single cry, welcoming a new dawn together.
Their call is not one of fear—it is a call of hope.
Predator and domestic animal overturn the natural order. Differences disappear in the face of a shared threat. In Insinna's symbolic universe, there are no longer hunters and prey, only living beings united by the instinct to survive and by the search for a future beyond violence.
The tiger embodies strength, courage, and resilience. The rooster, a timeless symbol of dawn and awakening, becomes the voice of renewal. Together, they announce the possibility of a new beginning, where harmony between humanity and nature might once again be restored.
Executed in oil and charcoal on canvas, the work combines rigorous anatomical accuracy with expressive contemporary painting. Transparent glazes, gestural marks, and textured surfaces dissolve any geographical reference, transforming the scene into a timeless metaphor that transcends place and era.

Attivo dal 1998, Sonny Insinna si forma al Liceo Artistico Almeyda e si laurea in Pittura (I° e II° livello) presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo. Le sue opere sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche e musei, tra cui: Museo Civico G. Sciortino (Monreale), Seminario Vescovile di Trapani, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Stauros (Teramo), Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (Pennsylvania, USA).
Ha esposto in numerosi contesti istituzionali in Italia e all’estero: Palazzo Ziino (Palermo), Valentina’s Art Gallery (Charleston, USA), Torre dei Ventimiglia (Montelepre), Galleria A Sud ArteContemporanea (Realmonte), Sacro Convento di Assisi e Biennale d’Arte Sacra (USA).
Nel 2011 fonda la Libera Scuola delle Arti Visive “Mialò Art”. Nel 2024 pubblica il manuale Colori in Equilibrio.
Da anni concentra la sua ricerca sui linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea, con particolare attenzione alla figurazione e alla dimensione simbolica.
