Bracelets of this type belong to the wider corpus of copper-alloy ornaments from Burkina Faso, where metal jewellery could function not only as personal adornment, but also as a marker of prestige, status and stored value. This example is especially appealing for its broad crescent-shaped form and strong sculptural presence. The bracelet is open, with a wide convex body and a raised inner border. Small applied elements punctuate the outer edge, while simple incised marks appear near the terminals. The surface shows a beautiful old patina, with warm bronze-brown tones, darker areas and traces of green oxidation in places. These variations are consistent with age and handling, and give the object a strong material presence. The form is both simple and powerful, with the mass and curvature of the bronze giving the bracelet an almost architectural quality. A very attractive Mossi-attributed bracelet, appreciated for its broad form, old patina, sober decoration and strong presence as a West African prestige ornament.
