Vaso - Gres - Giappone - Tecnica del neriage - 森勝資, Mori Katsushi, nato nel 1954

Item Description This is a striking stoneware vase by the Japanese ceramic artist Mori Katsushi (森勝資, Mori Katsushi, b. 1954), created using the neriage (marbled clay) technique. Fine bands of green, grey, and beige clay spiral diagonally across the entire surface, from the cylindrical neck down to the rounded, bottle-shaped body, producing a hypnotic swirling optical effect that shifts subtly depending on the viewing angle. The vase has a tall, narrow neck that flares gently at the rim and tapers into a compact shoulder before opening into a full, egg-shaped body. The interior of the neck reveals a dark, unglazed clay body, contrasting with the muted, earthy tones of the exterior striped pattern. The base is left unglazed, showing the natural stoneware body, and bears an impressed square seal mark, characteristic of the artist's studio work. Mori Katsushi is a recognised member of the Japan Kogei Association (日本工芸会) and has been selected for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition on numerous occasions since 1986, as well as the Japanese Ceramic Arts Exhibition in 1987, 1991, 1995, and 2001. He has held solo exhibitions at prestigious venues including Akasaka Inui Gallery, Shinsaibashi Daimaru, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi, and Ginza WAKO, and has received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon along with the title of Contemporary Master Craftsman from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This piece is a fine example of his signature marbled-clay technique, combining precise craftsmanship with a bold, modern visual pattern rooted in traditional Japanese ceramic art. Size Height: 25.5 cm Width: 13 cm Depth: 13 cm Weight 1086 g Condition The vase is in good overall condition, consistent with a handmade studio ceramic piece.
