Harpia, Bronze. Roman art Harpies are winged hybrid creatures from Greek mythology. As daughters of the sea god Thaumas and Electra, they embodied violent storm winds. They were usually depicted as hideous bird-like creatures with the heads of women that, at the behest of the gods, stole food or abducted souls to the underworld.
