Dial and Hands
The dial features an exceptionally clean and bright silver sunburst finish that is very well-preserved. Applied indices with black inserts complement the matching black stick hands, creating a highly legible and striking contrast. The printed text remains crisp and fully intact. Under macro magnification, minor dust or microscopic spotting is visible across the dial, while the hands show only very minor signs of age on their surface finish.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case displays honest vintage wear, retaining well-preserved overall geometry. The smooth integrated bezel and case exhibit moderate surface scratches and handling wear, and the lugs show signs of previous polishing. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, with no major scratches, cracks, or crazing visible. On the reverse, the caseback exterior shows some wear, but the signature Omega hippocampus logo remains clearly visible. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega crown featuring well-defined knurling.
Movement
Inside beats the Omega Caliber 565, a 24-jewel automatic movement. The copper-colored plating is bright and well-preserved, with clean bridges and a clean rotor. There are no obvious signs of corrosion, moisture damage, or heavy tool marks. Engravings including the caliber number and serial 28692712 are clearly present. The timegrapher reads +7+9s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a classic black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. It shows light wear and creasing, complementing the dial perfectly.

History
Introduced in 1948, the Omega Seamaster line was designed to offer robust, reliable timekeeping for active lifestyles. By the late 1960s, the collection had evolved to include refined, everyday dress watches that retained the durability of their predecessors. The Caliber 565, introduced in the mid-1960s, is widely respected by collectors for its precision and the convenient quickset date mechanism activated by repeatedly pulling the crown. This 1969 reference 166.037 SP is a classic representation of that celebrated era in Omega production.
