This expressive work by Berndt Wennström depicts a solitary woman standing beside a large red mushroom in a dramatic, almost dreamlike landscape. The strong contrasts between deep blue, black, white and warm orange-red create a powerful and atmospheric composition. The simplified figures and bold colour fields give the work a distinctly modern Scandinavian character. Berndt Wennström (born 1945) is a Swedish painter and graphic artist, born in Stockholm.
