Elegant French silver seafood / shellfish fork set dating from the mid-19th century, featuring richly decorated Louis XV style handles. The set consists of 10 forks with refined detailing and harmonious overall appearance. The forks are entirely made of solid 950/1000 silver, including the fork heads. Each piece bears the French Minerva 1 hallmark for 950 silver standard. The maker’s mark “GA” with collar button device is attributed to the Parisian maître-orfèvre Georges Frédéric Amey (1819–1871). His mark was registered in Paris on 27 January 1851 at 26 rue Rambuteau and officially cancelled in 1856 (Arminjon II:1895).
