Bizantino Bronzo Ditali (set da 3 pezzi) (Senza prezzo di riserva)

Byzantine. Ca. 600–850 AD. Bronze, 20-22 mm, 2.2-7.3 g. Item details: — 20 mm / 6.36 g — 20 mm / 7.3 g — 22 mm / 2.2 g Reference: Wilson, “On Early Thimbles,” Oxford Journal of Archaeology 35.4 (2016), 413–432. Byzantine thimbles were practical tools of textile production, protecting the finger while pushing fine needles through cloth. Copper-alloy examples appear securely in Mediterranean contexts from the late 6th century onward, perhaps connected with increasingly sophisticated textile and silk production. Their punched surfaces provided grip and offer a direct glimpse into everyday craft and domestic life in the Byzantine world. Provenance: Bought in December 2024 at a German auction house; the catalogue recorded private-collection consignment. Purchase invoices on file. DISCOVER OUR CURRENT SELECTION Visit and follow our seller profile to explore all items offered by Logos Numismatics & Antiquities across current auctions and stay informed of new listings. IMPORTANT INFORMATION I. All items are original and authentic, lawfully acquired through established European auction houses; provenance is documented in our records. II. Every order includes a consolidated certificate of authenticity and lawful provenance, documenting each item's attribution and provenance. III. Combined shipping is available only for items won in the same auction and settled as one Catawiki order. IV. For shipments outside the European Union, import licences, taxes, and related fees are the buyer's responsibility. Customs delays are beyond our control.
