Val Saint Lambert “Lubin” Antique Crystal Drinking Set, 1904–1905 An elegant and beautifully preserved antique drinking set by the celebrated Belgian crystal manufacturer Val Saint Lambert, dating to 1904–1905. The set belongs to the documented “Lubin” service and consists of a refined crystal decanter with its original stopper and a matching small stemmed glass. Both pieces are made from high-quality crystal and richly hand-cut with the distinctive Lubin decoration: a sophisticated combination of stylised foliage, sharp geometric facets and finely detailed cutting that creates exceptional brilliance in the light. The elegant proportions and elaborate craftsmanship are characteristic of Val Saint Lambert production at the beginning of the 20th century. The model is documented in the original Val Saint Lambert 1904–1905 catalogue, an image of which is included for reference. The historical importance of the Lubin service is further illustrated by its museum representation. A glass from the same service, featuring the same cut decoration, was exhibited at Val Saint Lambert during the exhibition celebrating the manufactory’s 200th anniversary. An example is also represented in the permanent collection of the Grand Curtius Museum in Liège, home to Belgium’s most important collection of glass and crystal.
