Crinoide - Animale fossilizzato - 27 cm - 14 cm

A beautiful and remarkably large crinoid fossil discovered in the north-western Sahara of Morocco.

Crinoids are an ancient class of marine echinoderms and the only living class within the subphylum Crinozoa. Commonly known as sea lilies or feather stars, they first appeared during the Ordovician Period and became particularly widespread throughout the Palaeozoic Era.

The group includes approximately 648 living species and more than 5,000 known fossil species. Their delicate, flower-like anatomy and long evolutionary history make crinoids especially fascinating specimens for fossil collectors and natural-history enthusiasts.

This fossil from the Arte Terra collection is presented on a custom-made solid wood display base, designed to enhance both its aesthetic appeal and scientific interest. The front of the base features a laser-engraved naturalistic illustration reconstructing the prehistoric animal in its original marine environment.
