Moneda conmemorativa de plata emitida con motivo del centenario del nacimiento de Albert Schweitzer. El anverso muestra el emblema de la RDA bajo el valor facial, mientras que el reverso presenta un retrato a izquierda de concepción realista, obra de Axel Bertram y Wilfried Fitzenreiter. Schweitzer fue médico, teólogo, músico y filósofo, conocido por su hospital de Lambaréné y galardonado con el Premio Nobel de la Paz en 1952.
