Ivan Pili - Somewhere above

Ivan Pili is an internationally active contemporary painter, recognized for his distinctive approach to figurative hyperrealism and atmospheric abstraction.

"Somewhere Above" is about searching for something that cannot be found at eye level. The upward gaze seems directed beyond the visible scene, toward a place that may be real, remembered, or simply imagined. The light reaches her face while the rest of the figure remains surrounded by darkness, reinforcing the sense that whatever she is looking for exists elsewhere. Somewhere Above does not say what is there — only that, for a moment, she believes there is something worth looking toward.
