Descrizione del venditore
Very rare CORO Adolph Katz gold-plated snake-chain choker necklace and CORO leaf-shaped brooch, both dating from the late 1940s to early 1950s. Striking and highly elegant examples of American mid-century costume jewellery, combining sculptural design and sparkling rhinestones.
The necklace features a beautifully sculpted central motif embellished with sparkling clear and ruby-red rhinestones, complemented by a supple Omega-style snake chain that lies beautifully and comfortably around the neck. Its flexible construction gives the piece a luxurious, fluid appearance, while the gold-plated finish creates the look of a much more substantial jewel.
The impressive central motif features a domed, architectural bar design with a vertical row of baguette-cut ruby-red rhinestones. On either side, the curved gold-tone elements are decorated with an elegant arrangement of round clear rhinestones and additional small ruby-red rhinestones, creating a sophisticated contrast between the polished metal and the sparkling stones.
The overall design is characteristic of the American Retro era, when bold sculptural forms, flexible metalwork, rich gold finishes and colourful rhinestones were particularly fashionable. Its refined, architectural appearance reflects the glamorous aesthetic of fine jewellery of the period, while remaining unmistakably characteristic of CORO's celebrated costume-jewellery tradition.
A truly eye-catching statement piece: elegant, glamorous and remarkably wearable, it can add a touch of vintage sophistication to both evening and contemporary outfits.
Signed CORO on the back of the clasp.
Length: approx. 36 cm (14.2"). Chain width: approx. 0.8 cm (0.3"). Centerpiece: approx. 5 × 2.3 cm (2 × 0.9"). Weight: approx. 35 g.
The brooch features a rich red/pink enameled leaf with raised vein detailing, framed in silver-tone metal and accented with sparkling clear rhinestones. The beautifully sculptural form and flowing leaf motif give the piece an elegant, organic appearance, with a distinctly mid-century character and subtle Art Deco influence.
Length: approx. 7 cm (2.8"). Width: approx. 2.8 cm (1.1"). Weight: approx. 15 g.
Excellent vintage condition.
