The angel in this painting is not represented as a traditional religious figure. There are no wings, no clearly defined face, and no conventional attributes of the sacred. Instead, the figure seems to emerge gradually from layers of colour, traces, erasures and fragments of matter.
It is an apparition rather than an illustration — something suspended between presence and absence.
*The Angel Who Waits* explores the moment before an image becomes certain. The figure seems to gather itself from the surface of the painting, appearing and disappearing simultaneously, as though it existed first as a possibility and only afterwards as a visible form.
The act of **waiting** becomes the central subject. What is the angel waiting for? A revelation, a return, a word, a moment of recognition — or perhaps for the viewer to become sufficiently attentive to perceive what remains almost invisible?
This ambiguity is essential to Kloșka's approach. The angel is not presented as proof of transcendence, but as the **possibility of transcendence**.
The layered surface reflects the artist's broader investigation into the **Ontology of the Trace**: each mark preserves something of an earlier gesture, while each erasure leaves behind evidence of something that has disappeared. The image therefore becomes less a representation of an angel than the trace of a presence.
Within Kloșka's **Mindscape**, the painting occupies the space between matter and spirit, memory and forgetting, appearance and absence. The angel becomes an intermediary — not between heaven and earth in the traditional sense, but between what can be seen and what might still exist beyond visibility.
A contemplative and enigmatic work from an important ongoing series, *The Angel Who Waits (239)* invites the viewer not to identify the angel, but to remain with the uncertainty of its presence.
**A unique original artwork, signed by the artist and ready to hang.**
