Inna Etuvgi - Fish on Leash - Large Matted Studio Trial
FISH ON LEASH
Studio Trial (ST) 2/3
Exclusive Matted Edition
"Why is control so important to us?
Is it about safety — or about the fear of uncertainty?
Why does even the illusion of control feel comforting?
Why is “holding the line” sometimes easier than letting life move on its own?
What can we actually control — our surroundings, others, outcomes?
Or only our own reactions?
Where is the boundary between control and regulation —
between managing our inner state and trying to tame what is alive?
And at what point does control stop protecting us
and begin to quietly govern us instead?"
THE STUDIO TRIAL (ST) SERIES - Important Note for Collectors:
This specific print is a Studio Trial (ST 1/2). Unlike standard limited editions, ST prints are personal work-prints used by the artist to test color, texture, and light during the creative process.
This piece features a minor ink smudge at the very top of the paper, which has been professionally masked by a high-quality mat (passe-partout). These ST editions are exclusive to Catawiki and are not available in any art galleries, offering a rare opportunity to own a unique "studio-direct" artifact that represents a key step in the artist's workflow.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi art photographer and digital artist, internationally recognised as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant. Born in a remote Arctic village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, she began her artistic practice in 2020 and has since exhibited across Europe — in Venice, London, Barcelona, Palermo, and San Marino.
Etuvgi lives with aphantasia — she cannot see images in her mind. Her camera and AI serve as extensions of her visual imagination, allowing her to create what she cannot picture internally. Through macro photography she enters the hidden worlds of mosses, lichens, and dewdrops; through digital art she gives form to psychological states and inner archetypes. Both are rooted in a deep sensitivity shaped by her Chukchi upbringing — an instinct to feel into every living thing.
As art critic Tabish Khan notes: "Her work transports us to other worlds — both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature."
