【Product details】
Steeped in tradition and artistry, Mashiko ware, or "Mashiko-yaki," has its origins in the historic town of Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture. With a lineage that stretches back to the Edo period, Mashiko ware has left an indelible mark on Japan's folk art movement, presenting a plethora of expressions through diverse glazes and intricate techniques.
Crafted by the illustrious Akashi Shosaku, a protégé of the esteemed Human National Treasure, Hamada Shoji, this vase embodies the essence of Mashiko ware. Drawing from traditional techniques passed down by his mentor, Shosaku has created a masterpiece. The vase, with its mesmerizing iron glaze floral pattern, boasts a deep, rich brown hue, thanks to the iron-rich glaze. Its standout feature is the beautifully impressed floral motif, a testament to the artisan's skill and attention to detail.
To elevate its stature, the vase is accompanied by an authentic wooden box, inscribed with the artist's name. This box not only enhances the vase's allure but serves as a seal of authenticity, making it a coveted item for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
