In 1795, the King of Spain granted José Antonio de Cuervo the first concession ever to produce Tequila commercially. This singular event marked the birth of Tequila. Jose Cuervo has been a family company for ten generations. The recipe and process has been passed down and upheld by a family of entrepreneurs, inventors, and risk-takers. It is no wonder why Jose Cuervo is the most awarded family of Tequila in history. The Cuervo distillery, La Rojeña, is still found on the same land. It is the oldest active spirits distillery in Latin America, located a few steps from the main square of the town of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico.
Cuervo Black Medallion is an Anejo tequila from Jose Cuervo. Aging for twelve months in charred American Oak barrels gives the tequila an extra smooth feel and taste.
