Girard-Perregaux - "R & D 01" - Automatic Chronograph - Senza Prezzo di Riserva - Ref. No: 49930 - Uomo - 2000-2010

Welcome to my Top Swiss Chronographs Boutique: Girard-Perregaux SA is a luxury Swiss watch manufacture with its origins dating back to 1791: more than two centuries of craftsmanship and perpetual commitment to perfection. In 1791, watchmaker and goldsmith Jean-François Bautte signed his first watches. He created a manufacturing company in Geneva, grouping for the first time ever all the watchmaking facets of that time. This included the engineering of the watch all the way to the final hand-assembly and hand-polishing of each piece. In 1832, Jacques Bautte and Jean-Samuel Rossel succeeded Jean Bautte, becoming the head of the company. In 1852, the watchmaker Constant Girard founded Girard & Cie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He then married Marie Perregaux in 1854, and the Girard-Perregaux Manufacture was founded in 1856. In 1906, Constant Girard-Gallet, who took over control of the Manufacture from his father, acquired the Bautte House and merged it with Girard-Perregaux & Cie. Since 1999, the Villa Marguerite, building in La Chaux-de-Fonds from the beginning of the 20th century, has housed the Girard-Perregaux-Museum: selection of old watches, illustrating glorious history of famous brand. “R & D” stands for “Research & Development”. In collaboration with active athletes, including sailors and racers, it was decided to install the pushers of this chronograph on the left side. The crown with rounded crown protection is - just like with the model Sea Hawk - easily accessible at its positioning at 4 o'clock and ensures maximum comfort. The crown cap, whose shape reminds of the air intake of a racing car, houses the date correction. The caseback is secured with six Allen screws - like a race car - and has a sapphire crystal which allows a clear view of the handmade movement. Movement: - in-house self-winding chronograph calibre GP 033C0 - certified C.O.S.C. chronometer - 52 jewels - power-reserve: 46 hours - 13 lignes - frequency: 28.800 vph, 4 Hz - rhodium plated - fausses cotes embellishment - shock absorber mechanism - straight-line lever escapement - monometallic balance - self-compensating flat balance spring - hacking seconds mechanism Case: - 316L stainless steel, brushed/polished - 43mm excl. crown, 49,7mm incl. - 13,8mm thick - length: 54,3mm lug to lug - unique limited A No. 4** (for byer only), best confirmation of authenticity Bezel: - 316L stainless steel, polished - fixed Sapphire crystal, anti-reflective See-through sapphire case-back with "R & D 01" inscription: see pics - secured with 6 screws Crowns: - 316L stainless steel, polished - screwed-down with raised GP logo shield - push/pull - two chronograph pushers of special shape, polished Dial: - black, looks sometimes blue due to anti-reflective coating - luminescent hands and Arabic numerals - four sub-dials for: 24-hour indication at 03:00 o'clock date at 06:00 o'clock constant seconds at 09:00 o'clock 12-hour register at 12:00 o'clock - outer diver's 0 - 60 scale - yellow arrow hand for chronograph minutes - red central seconds hand Strap: - black Girard Perregaux rubber - length: full size, ca. 24cm, incl. the watch itself - width 22mm by lugs, 19mm by clasp Double folding "butterfly" clasp: - two security pushers - with "GP" logo Weight: 134 grams Water-resistant 50meters/5Bar/165feet.
