Framed size: 53.5 × 40.5 cm
A quietly atmospheric landscape by Willem C. Rip, depicting a thatched cottage set among tall trees on the edge of a still watercourse. The sky is rendered with soft, textured brushwork while the dark greens of the foliage and the reflections in the water create a calm, intimate mood characteristic of Rip’s oeuvre.

About the artist
Willem Cornelis Rip was a Rotterdam-born landscape painter associated with the Hague School circle. Trained at the Rotterdam Academy, he received a royal grant to study in Munich before returning to the Netherlands, where he became known for polder scenes, waterside cottages and town views. His work is represented in Dutch collections and appears regularly at auction. Provenance: Private collection, The Netherlands.
