Large elegantly shaped Roman Terra Sigillata / redware amphora flagon. The vessel rises from a small, neatly rounded foot to a swelling ovoid body, tapering upward into a short cylindrical neck. Two strap handles are applied symmetrically, each with subtle palm leaf decorations. Fine horizontal lines encircle the body. The rim is broad and slightly everted, forming a clean pouring mouth. Flasks of this type were used for storing and serving liquids such as wine, oil, or water in Roman domestic settings. A well-preserved and handsome example of Roman utilitarian pottery.
