This precious oak journeys from an acorn to a mature tree in the forests of the United States and Northern Spain. It is then transported to Jerez in Southern Spain, where it is naturally air-dried for four years. After being crafted into barrels, it undergoes another two years of sherry seasoning to become the finest quality sherry oak casks. After this 106-year process, the casks undertake a long journey to Scotland. There, they are filled with new make spirit for a lengthy maturation, which brings a stunning, transformative flavor to the whisky—like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.
